Our corvette is a 1974 model C3 convertible with an L82 engine. The C3 was produced from 1968 to 1982. According to the initial model from
in 1968 it has very few changes.
The rear got independent reverse gear lights, embedded in a new bumper and a changed shape of the exhaust pipes.
The outer part of the body is made of glass fiber reinforced plastic (FRP or "fiberglass"), and the passenger compartment is made of a "backboned" steel cage.
The L-82 debuted in 1973 as a successor to the original LT-1 with improved emissions. With a 9.0:1 compression ratio, it was rated at 250 net horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 386Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The L-82 features large bore cylinder heads, push rod guide plates, long camshaft life, forged steel crankshaft, moly rings, aluminum finned valve covers, high performance starter and four bolt block.. 1974 is 6,690 engines were produced for all Chevrolet vehicles.
