The Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner is a full-size two-door sedan with a folding hardtop that was built in
Ford Motor Company between 1957 and 1959.
The retractable roof mechanism – also known as the “Hide-Away Hardtop” – was unique to Ford products and was
not offered on Continental, Lincoln, Mercury or Edsel brand vehicles at this time. The total was produced
48,394 units. At the time of its introduction, the Skyliner was the only hardtop convertible in the world.
