The Porsche 968 is a sports car produced by the German car manufacturer Porsche AG from 1991 to
\n1995.
\nIt was the final evolution of a series of front-engine, rear-wheel-drive water-cooled models that began
\nalmost 20 years earlier with the model 924. The starting position required quote in the company's line took over from the model 944, with
\n, which shared about 20 % parts. The 968 was Porsche's last new front-engined vehicle before its introduction
\nCayenne SUV in 2003. Porsche's 944 debuted for the 1982 model year as an evolution of the
\n924, it was updated as \u201c944S\u201d in 1987 and \u201c944S2\u201d in 1989. Porsche was in a big financial crisis at the time,
\nand buyers were less interested in his sports cars, especially in the US. Almost unchanged design
\nthe 944, derived from the 924, was showing its age and sales of the model declined. Porsche did, so he figured it out
\nthe need to develop a new basic model. Shortly after the start of production of the S2 version, Porsche engineers
\nbegan developing a second set of significant upgrades for the model as executives planned the final \u201cS3\u201d version of the 944
\nwith a design language consistent with the models in its line to save development costs. They are in the development phase
\nengineers either significantly modified or completely replaced 80 % mechanical components of the 944, with from
\nso little was left of the outgoing S2 model that Porsche management decided to present this version as new
\nmodel and calls it 968.<\/p>\n
In addition to numerous mechanical upgrades, the new model has also received significant improvements
\nrestyled both inside and out, with a more modern, streamlined look and more standard<\/p>\n
luxury accessories like the 944. In order to save production costs, production was moved out of the factory
\nAudi in Neckarsulm where the 924 and 944 were built under contract with Porsche at Porsche's own factory in
